Remap help

Featured Replies

Anyone paying £300 for a generic map is quite clearly mental when for £250 you can get a custom map.

Matt

who does custom for £250?

I got the 180bhp map and omg it's quick :) very good for £200 it's improved the car so much and the torque is amazing.

Just to add my 2p worth...

I've never heard anything bad about JabbaSport (except that maybe their rollers are a bit optimistic), P-Torque, Richard Washbrook (Unit 18) and Shark Perfomance.

Any research on these forums would have shown you that the exhaust will get you beggar-all in terms of performance. Sorry, but that's how it is. A custom remap will get you power and torque curves the shape you want, but any responsible tuner is already giving as much as is sensible on their stock maps now.

If you read JabbaSport's website, it actually says that more torque is available IF you have an uprated clutch. You can save yourself £50 on a remap, and that could buy you a huge lump of clutch-destroying torque for that, or a bit of extra boost that will terminate your turbo.

The smart money is going to a recognised tuner for a remap. P-torque does a rolling-road run before and after, JabbaSport is the conservative choice, Unit 18 is probably the cheapest and, if it was me, I'd go with Shark as Ben Wardle does all my other work and he's given me no reason to go elsewhere ;)

Group buy on for P-Torque remaps at the moment...

how do you think your clutch will hold up?

Angel tuning is mapping my bed at 4.30 today for £200 :) there known to be very good

Sounds fun, does your OH notice the upgrade?

Mine was mapped yesterday to 182 bhp and the only problem is spinning wheels if you fail to get the power done appropriately. Mine will cost though - sure its more than £300.00.

I used celtic tuneing had it Rolling Roaded at 182bhp and 302ft-lb pre FMIC being fitted now my car is still on the origninal clutch turbo ect ect and is about to hit 160,000 miles.

Since the map its been Rolling Roaded twice around the nurburgring and is used every day for work the map has now been on a year and i have coverd near 20,000 miles no issues i just treat it with respect warm up cool down as all ready suggested as well as 6k mile oil services but i am now getting itchy feet and more power is required.

So in the new year shopping list will be uprated clutch, singal mass fly wheel, full exhaust, uprated hybrid turbo then a custom remap

With this power it is quick once moveing and the FMIC has helped alot as well as my own designed automatic water sprayer but I know the clutch would just go boom if it had any more power so sense has to kick in before heart and greed :S

Go won't tell me the company he uses (trade secret he claims) but is going to get a graph read out to prove it. It really shifts now.

MINE claims 175bhp and 300lb,

and its been mapped since about 40k and now has 101800k ? !!! still on its first clutch !

Yup. Mine was only mapped low at first, 165bhp ish. But still, massive grin factor! Was great, you have to learn about how to drive it again in a way, all the power bands are kinda moved about a bit.

Too right. Mine even spins its wheels there is so much force being ploughed into the front wheels.
