OCTAVIA MK1 ESTATE

Featured Replies

I am trying to remove the boot lining from the rear hatch of my 2001 Octavia TDi estate so that I can replace the rear wiper motor. Unfortunately I can not work out how to remove the trim and I don't want to damage it by using trial and error. I've only found instructions for the Mk2 on this forum - can anyone tell me how to remove the trim from a Mk1? Thanks.

prise it off at the bottom and kind of lift the top of. Pull as hard as you dare then pull a bit harder. You may break some of the clips but they are cheap to replace. It's a while since I had the trim of mine but just remember pulling/prising it off worked.

Thanks, I'll give it a go.

I just want to thank you for having the answer to the question I wanted to ask! I need to get at the bulb holder for the number plate illumination. (I removed the dud bulb OK, but the bulb holder vanished into the darkness inside the tailgate door when I tried to push in a new bulb! Does this happen a lot?)

I am grateful to "trundlenut" for encouraging me to be brave and keep prising away.

As an alternative, is there any way of removing the plastic m oulding that houses the lamps (and the release handle) from the outside?
