Is it just me?

Featured Replies

Is it just me or are the vRS alloys bloody fragile????

I barely touched a kerb when parking and the alloys on the passneger side is really badly scuffed - I know some of it will be down to chosing the white versions but either the wheels or the paint / laquer / powdercoating on mine seems to be soooo easy to damage!

Its a bit annoying to have a big scuff mark on the alloy. Makes me look like I smashed it into a kerb like some idiot when I was doing about 2mph into my parking space and the kerb in only about 3" high!

Gutted for you. I don't think the paint/laquer is any weaker than any other. I think the problem is 8" (205) tyres on 7" rims. The tyres don't stand far enough beyond the rim to offer any protection from kerbing so even the slightest brush against the kerb is going to take your paint off

they are Powdercoated if you went for coloured ones so if you hit the kerb then it chips..... where as paint will scratch :S

When I looked at one in a showrrom the alloys seemed to stick out too far, like they have fitted tyres that were too thin as said above.

I'm guessing this will be a common problem. Slight mistake and it's a damaged wheel. Seems a bit daft to me.

Hum, may well be trying some 215 Toyos when I replace the useless Falkens then. Did notice that the tyre seems a bit small on the wheel even compared to the standard wheel/tyre combination on our Superb.

Yes i did go for the coloured ones - went for the white ones which really seem to stand out on my car. Thought they were powdercoated rather than just given what appears to be a very very thin layer of paint and laquer. Might get them re-done by a specialist into a different colour soon,

hi ross have you seen them wheel rim pretecters in the auto express you can have them in all colours i think there are about 50.00 quid for the set

you just let the tyre of the rim then fit them on the rim then blow the tyre up they look ok

It doesn't matter how hard you touch the kerb , you can scratch alloys just by using an abrasive brush .Gutted for you though mate

Looked at the Alloygators but they are actually nearly £90 for a set!

I think they are about £44 ( +Postage) for a set of 4.

Hum, dunno why it said I would have had to pay so much for the ones I was going to get. Will re-investigate!

I think a customer with a new vRS has had these fitted - according to the customer comments on their web site.

I'm thinking about getting some.
