Fabia Classic Eastate

Featured Replies

Hello

For my first post I have a very odd question to ask?

Y Reg 2001 Fabia classic eastate could anyone tell me if this model should have central locking? Lock push knobs go right into the door cards, looked on the net but so many variations its hard to track down.

Last car was a Felici GLX on a 98 plate that had central locking and I figured this should too.

Dealer I purchase from not very helpful, only puchased tis as a replacement for the wife adfter the Felicia was written off my a moran at a roundabout.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Don't think it should have it sadly. Can buy add on kits though I think.

My 2001 Classic Fabia doesnt have it unfortuneately

That is the very late 05/07 manual that's quite a bit different to the 05/05 manual that came with my 2007vRS...

The earliest catalogue I have is the 05/04 edition which deals with the last of the pre-facelift models.

"Central locking, with remote control" is shown as:

  • Standard on the saloon,
  • Optional on the Classic Hatch or Estate - you'd need the "Plus pack"
  • Standard on the Comfort, Elegance Hatch or Estate and the vRS

The "Plus pack" includes Remote Central Locking and Electric Front Windows and was an extra £400 - now the Comfort trim level was only £650 more than the Classic and included this long list of extras:

  • Body coloured door mirrors, Bodyside protective moulding, Electric releasing petrol cover flap, Electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, Electrically operated front windows with one touch operation, Front fog lights, Tinted glass, Adjustable dashboard illumination, Central locking with remote control, Deadlocks, Delayed courtesy light, Front reading light, Seat mounted storage pockets, Uprated stereo, Trip computer and improved upholstery.

I'd have thought someone prepared to spend £400 extra, would in reality spend £650 extra and get a lot more...

Early classic models did not have it, not even the special editions based on the classic like the blackline.

See http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/169820-fabia-central-locking-retrofit-part-deux/ and http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/75546-fabia-central-locking-kit-retro-fit-guide/ for details of the official retrofit kit. The official kit is quite expensive but designed to bolt straight on and just fit, whereas with a £30 generic kit you will probably be drilling and bending bits of metal trying to get it to fit.
