I picked up my new car on Monday after a four month wait then on the Tuesday I was told I was going to be made redundant. Any way about the car which is a Vauxhall Zafira 1.7 Ecoflex. I gave it its first real run today to Preston and back. The ride is far smoother than the Fabia and much quieter to drive, the only downside was the 47.8mpg instead of the 50-60mpg in the Fabia but with only 160 miles on the clock I am sure that will climb to over 50mpg with a few miles under the belt.

Sixth gear tends to give very relaxed driving with the engine ticking over at 2,000rpm at 70mph but I am not sure how useful it will be when driving on gradients such as the M6 toward the Lakes and borders. Driving the Zafira has made me realise how bad the bounciness is on the Fabia .

PS Does anyone know a good Vauxhall forum?

There are various vauxhall forums for specific models but the best one is probably migweb that caters for all models I think
