Mudflaps

Featured Replies

We have a 2.0 140 bhp dsg Elegance 55 plate. Am thinking of buying the Bailey Pegesus 462 caravan 2011. On caravan forums these have suffered in the past year since they came out with stone damage to front of caravan and others say they became unstable for which i cannot understand as they have what is called ATC. So my question is does any member have one and what have they found out with a Octavia regarding both questions. Another thought occured to me is why these people have not got extra long mudflaps or perhaps they have none at all.Now i have seen on camper vans these long skirts which reach down to the ground, i would not want that on a car but does anyone know what is available for Skoda which is simular.Thanks.

Have read a lot about the issues with the Pegasus. With the new bumper/protection film on 2011 models you should be less at risk from stone dents I would hope. However longer mudflaps seem to be one solution just in case ... or a towing skirt for the front of the 'van .... seen a couple of Peg's and a few Olympus owners with these on.

I have a Swift fitted with ATC, it is the most stable 'van I have ever towed in a lifetimes caravanning ... whether that is down to the ATC I don't know. The only time i'm aware of the ATC cutting in is if I leave a roundabout too smartly! However I am led to believe it does cut in without you noticing quite a lot. I think a lot of the Pegasus owners are saying they feel the 'van is unsettled though it doesn't develop into a snake .... I've also read the 2011 Peg's are being rebalanced to combat towing/high noseweight issues.

Good luck with the Pegasus .... we had a Bailey for 10 years between 1995 and 2005 without any problems.

have the same issue at the moment. I have a VRS estate and am picking up a Bailey olympus in 3 weeks but cant have mud flaps as Skoda dont make them and i cant be doing faffing about with a make do job as i know i will **** it up. I have purchased a Pro Tec towing skirt which should stop almost all damage to the front. I am not towing the van continuousyly but opted for the cover as the protection ( which has jeuct been upgraded on the front of the alu tecs) still dosent look that great to me. I think i pais £75 for the cover and its the duluxe one which is padded.

I suppose you could invest in those rally type mud flaps which almost touch the ground? Im not going to bother though. I think that as i am driving an estate, the back wheels will be just that little bit further away from the van so hopefully i wont get to much crap kicking up.

Do a seatch for pro tec covers on google and it will bring up the covers. They have vbeen recomended as a good accessory in Practical Caravan this month.

Nice layout .... we had ordered a Lunar with that layout but it was delayed so much I cancelled it .... sadly the equivalent Swift with the same layout was too heavy and too wide ofr our drive. Maybe next time.
