My cars crap up to 2000rpm maybe a little higher

I know nothing but say turbo issues lol, bare in mind I'm clueless about cars

Have you checked your air filter is clean? Might be having trouble sucking air through. HTH Andy :)

Funny idling is normal for the 1.4mpi, something to do with idling low enough to meet emissions regulations makes it jittery.

1.4mpi has no turbo.

Agree air filter and spark plugs are as good a place to start, but is this poor performance in comparison with how it has performed in the past? TBH the engine does need a bit of a thrashing to perform at its best.

what mpi stand for? And the http ones I think it is? didn't see it said 1.4 partially reading posts oops

MPi = Mutlipoint injection - it's an 8v 1.4. Theres' also a 1.4 16v, reffered to as the 16v (although does have MPi also).

HTP is High Torque Performance - ironic really, considering the torque of the vRS.

May also be worth cleaning the throttle body and running a Throttle Body Adaptation with Vag-com.

i have this problem in my car as well, i did a full service (oil, gas, air filter, oil change) i cleaned all the sensors and ran 2 tanks with fuel injector cleaner, i changed leaky hoses and cleaned throttle and reset computer, but none helped.

the problem is a mix of lambda sensor being dirty (run car no load @ 2500 rpms for 5 min) and fuel pump/injectors not squirting propelly, so change fuel filter, run Marvel Mistery Oil Texaco injector cleaner or some other product as... and it will feel much better.
