About 12 months ago I blew my standard turbo, I was left with getting it reconditioned or buying a new one, to save on blowing another standard turbo I thought I would pay out and get a Garrett turbo......I asked for the PD150 one as at the time I hadnt really looked into what the VNT17/VNT15 were, so when a VNT15 arrived I thought nothing of it.

I then had it fitted and run with it for around 8 months, the turbo become very whiney/whistley and I thought somthing must be up, I then had to send it away to be reconditioned for the fins being bent on the cold air side.

I have just been browsing the forum in the usual manner, and read that the VNT is a PD110 turbo...my turbo has only been back on for a month or so, and is again starting to whistle so im assuming its f**ked again! NO WONDER if its designed to run less than 170bhp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARGHHHHHHHHH, has anyone got any advice on where I stand with this or have I just been completely shafted with no where to go?

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

before I speak to said company, can anyone please confirm that the VNT15 is a downgrade from the standard 130 turbo?

turns out VNT15 doesnt make it not a GT1749V ???? 721021-5006s makes it a GT1749V....which is a PD150 turbo......

The PD130 is a 1749VA and PD150 is a 1749VB, this link may be helpful: http://www.turbomaster.info/eng/applications/passenger_cars/volkswagen/

721021 seems to correspond with a PD150 turbo, although like you I would have thought VNT15 would mean GT15XX VNT series?

i always thought the vnt15 turbo was off the pd100/110 models????

Did you replace the oil feed pipe?

If the pipe is restricted, then every turbo you put in will whine and die.
