Updating the speakers

Featured Replies

So, im was thinking to update my front speakers.. i tried to use "search" but didint find what i was looking for.. so.. If i understanded right, i need to buy 6½"(165mm) size speakers to front doors? I got -98 octavia SLX.. and i noticed one thing too, that the "installion size/depth" is only about 40-50mm! And seems like, that the small speakers on the mirror are really small too.. about 38mm is the max wideness without harming the plastic.. If its more you need to start cutting things :(

Would like to hear what you have done to your car and what kind and sized speakers i should start to looking for. Is is possible to buy bigger than 50mm depth speakers?

These i already watched:

Infinity REF6530CS 6,5"

HERTZ : DSK165.2 : 6.5"

Nothing too expensive.. thx :)

Yep the front door speaker location is one of the worst features of the Octavia

RobClubbley's guide provides a possible solution for deeper speakers.

I believe its possible to bend/remove some of the metalwork rounds the window support bar, which causes all the grief.

The width of the speaker chassis/magnet is important too.

I ended up taking the MDF mounts off eventually and bending the bit of metal in the door :)

I kept kicking them when I got into the car.

I have a set of Vibe Sek69? And they are rather deep speakers and I found that a bit of force managed to get them in.

Well after all i bought infinity reference 6020cs speakers. Working pretty fine now, at least better than the originals  Just would love to have amplifier for them :( my current cd player giving 4x50watts, i mean should give, that what was reading on the manual :giggle:

Now just need to save some money for a new player with more than one RCA output.. im already using my only RCA output to subwoofer ampilifer.. and no, i dont wanna split it.
