Throttle Actuator Motor

Featured Replies

Hello all,

New to this so be patient if I am asking a daft question.

I have an octavia 2.0tdi mk2 and the throttle body is jammed open, not to much of a problem as the car runs perfectly well.

The part number stamped on the offending part is 038 128 063c and having searched the net I ordered a used one.

The number stamped on the one I received is exactly the same as the one fitted to my car but they are most definitely not the same thing.

Mine is fitted with 3 bolts through a triangular base, the one I got has 4 bolts on a square base and a different connection for the manifold hose.

My question is how do you know which one to actually buy? Isn't the part number unique? One dealer said I needed an 038 128 063 M.

Are you sure its faulty , I presume your looking at it when the engine isn't running ,if it was stuck open it wouldn't run perfectly well and you would have an eml light on , when you turn the ignition off the ecu opens up the throtle,

And when you turn on the ignition it closes it ready to start .

Oh yes, it is absolutely jammed rigid.

The eml light is on. It blows fuse f8 in the engine fuse box and I get an error code of p2100 when I plug a reader into the car. After searching the web these all apparently point to the throttle actuator motor or the inlet manifold flap depending on which site you look at.

I did remove it and it was filthy inside so cleaned it with carb' cleaner and oiled it. Has now stopped blowing the fuse, eml light stays off for one trip after being reset then comes back on and the same error code reappears.

Apart from seeming a bit heavier on the diesel the car runs fine. If the eml light hadn't come on I wouldn't have known anything was wrong with it.

The fuse it blows is for the cooling fan which is handy.

They normally jam open, done loads of them. The throttle body has now been modified and all new ones are sorted.

How do you know which one to buy to fix it? Surely ordering the same part number as that stamped on the faulty one should be correct. The one I got, although marked the same was totally different.

Order one from your dealer, its the only way to get a modified one.

Did you order the same numner, same letter at the end?

Yes, the part on my engine is marked as 038 128 063 C. The one I got is marked the same but is totally different. One dealer said I needed an 038 128 063 M (which they where selling for £190) Shouldn't 2 parts with the same part number actually be the same?

Thing is with VAG the part number on the side might not be for the part, they dont always tally up.

190 to get it sorted, seen worse.

Hello all. HHEELLP! I have also had the P2100/P2102 ASV fault on my 2006 octavia TDI. I have replaced the ASV with the new M level part as described above, genuine part from Pierburg but the light comes on. The engine deos shudder when swiched off and I cant see the valve is operating (assuming it shuts on shut off to prevent air supply and stop shudder).

I have feed at fuse F8 as above but no feed at the valve plug on any wire. Is there anything else common? is there a sensor that controls it?

Any help would be appreciated.
