VRS starting problem

Featured Replies

I have a 55 registered Fabia VRS and having problems starting it.

It's had a new starter motor which is working, battery has been tested and it's fine, no engine management lights are on.

It doesn't start all of the time (sometimes it clicks) and when it does it sounds ropey sometimes. It didn't start on Monday and it got going by bump starting.

Any ideas from experts out there?

Thanks.

i had an issue with my old ford mondeo when the key battery died the ecu couldnt recognise the code sent from the key so at times was a bitch to start have you a spare key? try that.

if no engine managment lights are comeing up i would put my money on the above maybe worth a try

I'm not an expert but if you can bump start it, it's surely not the key? "Starter slenoid" came to mind so I Googled it and found this topic here and this topic here too both with some pointers

Dreaded solenoid wire I would think, corroded and getting ready to break inside the connector on the starter motor.
