maxidot question

Featured Replies

My dealer says that because I don't have the steering wheel controls or a multi-functional steering wheel (as I have ordered a manual) I cannot change my maxidot settings - I can only cycle through the standard "trip computer" settings.

1) is he right that I cannot change any settings myself?

2) does anyone have a comprehensive list of all maxidot options and what they do? (as my dealer said I can take my car back to them to change the settings)

Thanks,

you can alter antihijack settings, alarm chirp on arm/disarm, comfort indicator flashes, auto rain closing (needs rain sensor), come home lights etc etc.

A member with vcds can do more than your dealer can anyway, such as enabling the 2nd rear foglight.

The maxidot is controlled using the wiper stalk, press and hold the top of the rocker on the end of the stalk to bring the menu up and then use the rocker on the end to move up/down. Once you have selected an option use the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk to select it like an OK button.

But they don't have Maxidot?

maybe amii21 can post a picture of the instrument cluster so we can tell if it is or is not maxidot.

I read this as that the OP thought that the maxidot settings were only available if maxidot was fitted.

As you correctly pointed out in the absence of maxidot the options are still available, albeit only through VCDS.

Granted, a picture tells a thousand words, a photo would help

I do have maxidot fitted, and have managed to access the options settings, as described in the third post. It's just that my dealer said the only benefit of maxidot in my car was that it was a "nicer display" compared to the non-maxidot display. He said I could not change any of the settings, as I did not have the steering wheel mounted controls in order to interact with maxidot. He clearly did not seem to be aware that holding the rocker on the wiper stalk would give additional maxidot options.

He was a very nice guy, so I might drop him an email with the link to this thread.

Is there a previous post with all the maxidot settings in terms of what each option does? I'd be grateful for the link (as I was too afraid to change any of the settings, having accessed maxidot!)
