water temp

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a 2006 fabia vrs. When the car is started from cold (when left over night) the water temp light starts to flash.

When the car is up to temp and turned off and back on again the light goes away?

Obviously it cant be a direct temp issue, could this just be a faulty sensor?

Cheers

expansion tank

lots of threads about it....

new tank under £20 i believe

or scrape the crap off the contacts inside the expansion tank

I've seen similar posts a few times. When it happened to me on the first really cold morning it just needed a cup of water to regain the level. It had dropped because the water contracted as it got colder, therefore only a little bit it required to get int back up to the level of the sensors.

The contacts in the expansion tank do not measure temperature, they measure coolant level. Change the sphere, which often leak and give false readings, and fill to the correct level and if the coolant level still drops yuo'll be looking elsewhere for a leak. The spheres are relatively cheap and easy to change.
