Not used my Vrs for 2 months now has surging boost

Featured Replies

Can anyone help identify a problem with my 03 Vrs, I've not used my car for 2 months apart from taking it to the garage for an Mot, Taxed it today and took her for a spin, all was good apart from a problem with the boost, which wasn't there before taking her off the road.

I noticed the boost kicked in hard as per normal but soon after it dipped off then on then off and then on again, the boost used to come in hard around 4k rpm ease slightly but continue to pull smoothly to the red line, now the boost seems to surge on and off round to the red line.

Any idea what may be the problem, the battery did go flat for some time and was sat on the drive for some time too, I'm going to take her for a good drive tomorrow and see if that helps.

Thanks Jim

sounds like the MAF . Unplug it and go for a drive and if its better then you know its that .

Might be worth giving the TB a clean and checking for fault codes.

N75? You need to do a fault scan, and best of all do some logs using vagcomm. Anything that's suggested is a bit of a shot in the dark.

My car does this intermittantly. Has done pretty much since I bought it. Tried another N75, cleaned TB, Disconnected MAF sensor, N249 bypass, Forge DV. All to no avail. Recently I have had the dreaded Limp mode and 17705 code coming up intermittantly. Guessing it might be a leak somewhere on mine.

The 17705 code is horrible . Took me over a year to sort it .

In the end i had to have a new TB . I did write a thread how i cured it , will give you some idea

Got a link to your thread ,VRS Nick?

I'm having this problem too... think it may be MAF. Gonna take her out for a spin in a mo w/o the MAF i'll let you know..

Thanks for the replys, the problem seems to have eased, not sure why, but I suspect it could be the Maf playing up.
