VRS 2004 Alternator Issue?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have logged on this evening after experiencing ongoing issue with my 1.9T VRS (2004) and needs some help.

The car failed to start a few week ago, AA cam out and fitted a new battery. Job done.

1 week later car fails to start again, AA back out advise the Alternator needs repacing. New Alternator fitted privately and car runs for 3 days then dies. New battery and new alternator yet issue remains.

Has anyone experienced this before. Power steering cut out whilst driving today before i nursed her to a stand still. She then would not start!

Any advise would be appreciated,

Regards

Gesus

I had similar, was the wire that determines the amount of load the electrical system is under.

Thanks for the quick reply Matt, Was it a Straight forward fix? Costly?

Very common fault, easily confirmed by the lack of a battery light when you turn the ignition on.

There are a group of connectors in front of the gearbox, one of the two pin connectors will have either snapped off or corroded up. easiest thing to do is cut the connector out and join the wires back up.
