Rear wash wiper

Featured Replies

hi

Need to have a look at my rear wash wiper, think the water pipe has come away but was stuck as to how you get the plastic mouldings off the boot lid?

Dont wanna crack or break anything!!

Cheers

The internal mouldings? Just pull and/or lever away with a trim tool or screwdriver wrapped in insulating tape...

I had an issue with my back washer, its a bit of a funny design where the washer pipe comes through the middle of the bolt holding the wiper on. When your wiper moves, does the washer eyelet move with it, or does it stay pointed upwards (it should stay pointed up).

Im assuming when you use your washer, water is coming out of the boot and draining out under the spare wheel. You may find that the washer eyelet pipe has rusted inside the bolt and twisted, breaking it inside the motor. You can pick up a kit easy enough from a VW specialist - i'll see if i can dig out the part number (its on these forums somewhere!)

I used the handle of a wooden spoon to get the trim off. There's about 10ish metal clips holding it on, if you get the spoon under the trim and move it sideways until you hit one of the clips then lever it down, the rest should come off pretty easy. Its harder to actually get it back on :)

Hi

The washer eyelet stays in the same possition so assuming the pipe may have split.

Will have a go tommorow then with the wifes prized cooking utensils. Thought it might have been held on with clips just didnt wanna break anything.

If you can get that part number that would be great if its the worst case senario.

Thanks for the help.
