Fabia boot not closing properly

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondering if any one can help,

The boot on my Fabia when closed is around 5mm from being completely closed, the lock still clasps it and it locks with the central locking, but it rattles when driving. I have noticed that it can be properly closed if slammed hard, but I don't like to do that.

I've looked at the lock and the clasp, but both look to be in good shape. As you can imagine, I don't want it coming open whilst driving, and it may start to leak.

Anyone have any advice?

Cheers :)

Yeah, keep slamming it! I have to  :P

It is a pain, although mine doesn't rattle at all on its "half-shut" position, so maybe you're unlucky? It certainly takes a fair whack to get ti shut tight though, eh?

Mine is the same. A good firm shove is req! When I first had mine the dealer told me they all do it.

Mine doesn't :P

If under warranty ask the dealer to adjust it and don't take no nonsense about they all do it! I had this problem on my old Y reg TDi Fabia and it was the 'receiving catch' slightly out of position. It was adjusted by the dealer and never a problem again.

edit - You should be able to jerk the fabric boot strap down with your arm and have the boot shut without any additional force applied.

You get to the catch by unsnapping & removing the plastic cover in the boot and undoing the bolts holding it on - it's possible that they aren't done up so slamming the boot lid causes the catch to move, making the problem worse.

Even if not under warranty should only be a half hour if that job, so about 30 quid, and then it's their problem if it's not cured!

Also note that the rear folding seats make noises, and can be adjusted by turning a little rubber stop that's located on the wheel arch behind the seat when folded down.

Mine doesn't :P

I tried mine again today, I don't need to slam it hard just need a extra bit of ommph. So maybe mine is ok after all. :P
