Wheel nut covers gone white

Featured Replies

My wheel nut covers have gone white. Anything that will make them silver again or is it a common problem?

What do you use to clean your wheels?

What do you use to clean your wheels?

Yep, sounds like acidic wheel cleaner

go buy some from the dealer and change your wheel cleaner to something non acidic like bilbery. (or change the hand carwash you visit)

Think they were around £12 when I last bought a set and will probably last longer than spraying them.

Never used acidic wheel cleaner on my wheels, just elbow grease, and mine have gone white too.

Have you ever been to a "hand car wash"?

this happened to me after I had been to a local "hand car wash"!! dodgy chemicals.

I spent over 2 hours to scrapping it off them, in the end they are not prefect but at least not that visible! maybe cheaper getting some from fleabay or the stealers!

Same thing happened to mine.I never use any chemicals or any stuff to clean the wheels, just water and soap.I think they get discoloured due to the heat generated by the brakes. The solution I found was to replace the ones I had, which were silver coloured,to darker grey ones as on the Superb 2,after a year they still look good ...

Mine started to go white almost as soon as I got the car (brand new) - even before I had a chance to wash it!

Yep, correct,

You can see here the one to cover the locking wheel nut is different.

Don't bother with eBay, genuine Skoda one's work out less than 50p each...
