Favorit (1995) Fuel Stops at Operating Temp!

Featured Replies

HELP!! My new Favorit Est LXie 1995, with 136B engine and single point injection has developed an annoying fault.

Car has only 12500 miles (yes really), have ran it properly for 2000miles with new oil after I bought it and is sewing machine superb. However, when running the car for say 20 mins at standard road speed, after I turn off to a junction when moving up the gears again there is no fuel delivery - but the engine ticks over fine, warning lights only come on when at stop. When freewheeling tried to jump start but no success. Car will start again after 3-4 mins (cooled down?) and behave like nothing has happened until it seems to get up to the same temp and stop again. &*$£@*#*!!!!!!!! I use the car daily for work.

I have had the plugs changed and the coil too (often vw fault) but still happening. Dont want to start getting into new injection units etc - can anyone help or have you experience of this before?

Thanks.

Has the fuel filter been changed recently? This thread may possibly be relevant too.

Had similar problem with my Favorit. When I changed the filter dirt came out of the fuel pipe on the inlet side. Seemed that the low mileage caused dirt to accumulate in the tank, which then stuck together in larger lumps. If changing the filter hasn't worked try cleaning out the tank.
