Featured Replies

My car threw up a engine management fault as i parked my car after coming home last nyt.. the revs are taking a while to settle down and then the idle revs are settling a little high and rather irratic.. twitching up asnd down by about 200rpm ish i think

Instant thought - MAF !!!

Unplugged the MAF and no difference still irratic

Mine 'hunts' slightly at idle, probably +/- 50rpm the throttle body seems to be quite the cause of these faults, try fitting a new gasket and cleaning it out.. there's a guide on here somewhere I think

Remove & clean the throttle body.

Ok ill have a looky see..... gonna stick a fault code reader on tommoz anyways aswell just to clear them all and see which come back incase some are still lying around from that oil pressure pcikup problem i had.

Oh and i got that traction control pop up for a little while cus i drove rather fast down a bumpy farm track lol! but that went by itself.

You could have a problem with the coolant temp sensor as that can cause rough idle. Replace with a genuine green VAG CTS, £25ish.

Also check the pipe near the dipstick for any splits.

The light will come on by itself when the traction control is taking action, such as when the wheels spin etc.

it came on permanently all the way home then reset after a while ....

And i stuck the fault code reader on ... and these are the results:

16486: Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low: P0102

and

17544: Fuel trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean: P1136

Sounds to me like theres too much air going into the system, because the sensors reading is too low :S
