hello followed by few questions from a new member

Good afternoon boys and girls (do we have any? :giggle: ). I'm new member here, got my octy vrs half a year ago. Already spent quite a lot of time doing DYI stuff and planning to spend much more in the future! :yes:

Few things i'd like to hear ur opinion without creating new topic:

1) CCM module. Yes, mine has died (pic is HERE ) and was *PARTIALLY* fixed, but i still wanted to have electric windows, so decided to replace mine. Got one from HERE (pricey + wanted to charge me 45 extra for reprogramming keys!), but unfortunately it was from a Golf. Managed to reprogram keys myself, everything looks fine except central locking bit - have to unlock twice in order to get all doors unlocked and cannot open/close windows remotely. Any chance of fixing those issues myself? Got a laptop, VagCom and big wish to do it! :D

2) Camshaft chain. Able to hear it while the engine is running. Nothing loud, just if u know what to look for - you'll hear it. Any1 has replaced it? Prices for parts/labour?

3) Starts like a diesel! Is it normal for octys to start like a diesel? To be more precise, it is only while starter motor is turning over, once i get the engine up and running - does sound like a proper petrol. So 'dieselish' sound is only like 1sec, but still - kind of annoying, because other engines (mate has audi a4 1.8T) does not appear to produce this sound.

4) Carbon filter. What is it for (answer 'filtering carbon' would not help :D ) and why I hear some ticking from it while the engine is idling?

5) Clincking/Bumping noise. Upon stopping up engine or turning off A/C i hear some noise coming from glovebox (compressor). Is this the 'famous' secondary air pump riverts failure or a different issue?

6) Turbo condition. Any way of checking its condition? After mate took me over with his volvo D5 i started thinking something's wrong... Turbo is whistling, pulls ok (at least in 2nd and 3rd), cant check the movement of the axle (because of the turbo location :dull: ) Could not find a way of measuring the pressure using laptop (vagcom) or A/C display. Looks like aftermarket gauge or rolling road is the answer :(

7) Blow-off valve. Want one! :D But have read hundreds of problems (mainly because of MAF), but do not believe that none of u guys have them. Forge 007 or which one should I go for? Looking for atmospheric one (or at least partially). Does remapping have any impact on this? Mine has not been remapped, just thinking if after remap you could get away with those issues...
