ok to use 195 45 16 tyres on vrs?

Featured Replies

Got a couple of avons in the garage just wondered if they will be ok fitment wise?

Possibly.

They are only 1.5% smaller (5 mm in radius). I used the calculator on this page. http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

If possible stick to the standard 205/45 size.

They'll be absolutely fine  What's 10mm between friends :giggle:

You can have 5 mm difference tread depths, (7mm vs 2mm), so as mentioned it should be OK.

What about on 7' wide audi alloys?

Would you run them on front or rear or makes no difference?

Check this tyre calculator - they should be fine on a 7" wide rim. On a modern car with ABS I would be fitting the same size tyre front and rear so as not to upset the ABS system. I would also stick to using four winter tyres or four summer tyres, never two of each.

is there any ride difference with these size tyres on compared to 205/45

I did an arbitrary test on my car yesterday. Mate had GPS speed indication on his satnav, on his smart-phone.

My car runs newish (2K miles) 205/45 x 16s, so standard size.

GPS 60 = 64 on the car's speedo. 6 2/3 percent out at 60 on newish tyres! 195/50s or 205/50s would be OK from a rolling radius perspective.
