Front Wishbone Bushes

Featured Replies

I know that the front wishbone bushes are notorious for going and mine need replacing. My decision is what to replace them with. I know there are a lot of discussions on here and the general opinion seems to be to go with powerflex or cupra tdi bushes. My issue is I don't want to make the ride too firm, I do quite a lot of motorway miles and don't want lots of vibration and noise passed into the cabin and through the steering wheel.

Are there any other bushes that might be a bit softer but last better than the standard ones?

Cheers.

Had an independent garage advise me and fitted replacement new consoles which had new Skoda standard bushes already fitted.

This indeed proved expensive @ £72+ per console + 2 hours labour. (£230.00)

I did ask for the undamaged old consoles back and now await for bushes to wear-out on car. (probably in about 3 to 4 years time?)

I will then remove old bushes to fit new Skoda bushes into old consoles and repeat the whole process again, only this time just labour. emoticon-0105-wink.gif

unit 18 charged me considerably less than that for the cupra upgraded console bushes.

I need to change the other ARB bushes on my fabia as it's rattling bigtime, was thinking of going down the powerflex route, is it worth doing the whole front?

as mentioned, Im using the upgraded cupra console bushes and it's smooth on the motorway, if anything I think the ride on normal rodes is firmer, either that or british roads are just crap ( probably just the latter as in bristol there crap )

if it helps on my sdi fabia I would say that the handling has improved and I have noticed no difference in noise and vibration since fitting them. I do quite a mixed millaged of motorways and normal roads

I would say to any fabia owner do the cupra and powerflex mod

either cupra or poly bushes are fine , basically anything except the original oe fabia bushes [although they have been modified now so the old 1's should be obsolete]

does anyone know what the size of the front arb bushes are on the VRS?

i've looked on the powerflex site and it looks like there are different sizes listed for the fabia

any help appreciated

Considering the difference in price between Cupra bushes and Powerflex ones, it's hard to justify the extra cost for the Powerflex ones TBH. And even using non-OEM on the rear bushes is debatable. Certainly mine (which went first) has Cupra fronts and Powerflex rears, but my wife's (which was maintained with the benefit of hindsight) has Cupra ones at the front and OEM ones at the rear...

I have recently replaced mine with cupra bushes.

There is more vibrations below 1500rpm, but the car feels more tight and fresh.

Above 1500rpm and when driving at a steady speed, i have no difference in vibration.

My driving style is normally above 1500rpm to be gentle to the clutch and excercise the turbo, so it isn`t an issue for me.

The best thing i have done on the car so far. Feels like a new car again.

Also fitted the Meyle HD ARB links. Hopefully better quality than OE.

Is Unit 18 in Cornwall?? if not, fuel used to & fro + labour not viable to use them.!!

no there in northants
