THE official best time for the STANDARD Fabia vRS is 7.2 seconds for Autocar magazine (Oct 04). These are TESTED figures and NOT the silly claimed 9.6 second claimed figure from Skoda.

So you're saying that Skoda can't TEST its own cars accurately, yet a magazine testing a supposedly "STANDARD" car achieves 2 seconds less than the silly claimed time?

Next you'll be claiming all the vRS's gain 15/20bhp once they've loosened up because people have measured this on a rolling road :rofl:

That Autocar figure was a 1 off. If you look at the other figures they did that day at you'll find it was more like 8.5sec to 60. Which is about right as the 9.6sec time is for a 0-62mph time.

 at what chris said.

1 second for 2 mph???

where'syou uber torque now?

at 2Krpm

:D

from 1750 and 1763 rpm :)

Would the official 0-60 time affect the insurance grouping? I smell a potential dodge here.

Incidentally, what is insurance group on the Ibiza FR 130 TD? What is its quoted 0-60 time? ;)

BTw Neo, very off-putting avatar. I can't concentrate when trying to read the forum

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

next we will be hearing that they actually put out about 150bhp standard and skoda just call it 130bhp for fun

I would suspect insurance companies aren't that stupid ;) Why would Skoda market a "hot hatch" with such a slow 0-60 time?

Chris

the ibiza is 9.1

are saying thats wrong too?

btw the ibiza is group 8 and the fabia group 9

where's that arguement gone now? :P

i wouldnt think so, surely its just the fabia thats quicker than it should be?:rofl:

fabia costs

As an aside .Car mag said the octavia was 177 bhp not 180 claimed.I thought it was near 190 standard ;)

How the flip do the insurers justify group 9 for a fabia vRS and group 27 or whatever for my octavia?

Whats the thread about again  :)

vrs is group 16

4x4 is group 14 :D

wtf is up with that, a roller skate with lower insurance group even though it is faster as standard with sportier looks and more theft attractive.

I suppose it is because the insurers believe mine is the road going version of the octavia rally car....in the rallies, normally found hanging off a cliff Italian Job style. Risky car :D

Probably cheaper to fix in the event of an accident though...

The Octy vRS is 180PS not 180bhp. 100PS = 98.6bhp hence why its adjusted down. Incidentally the TDI130 is measured in PS so that comes out at 128bhp.

Group 9 for the Fabia - why? I don't care, I'll just take the saving :-)

never understood insurance groups much. dont no all the criteria but if i did i guess it would make sense

my A4 quattro 190PS is only group 14  but im happy tho...

I don't know all the criteria, but a lot of it comes down to the cost to perform certain types of repairs - these can be proportionally weighted according to statistics. There's also the criteria for security - how hard it is to nick, and how desirable it is. There's some other stuff too, but I've forgotten what it was.

So your Audi is probably relatively low, as it's a pretty anonymous looking car and well-secured - unlikely people are going to risk nicking it. In terms of accident damage, I suspect relatively speaking any damage would be well-contained, therefore reducing the cost of repair...

yeah your probably right, i guess i thought it would have been the same as my old vRS.

i would say its more distinctive and more likely to get stolen than the vrs with the body kit and 18in alloys etc but thankfully a long way off the looks of a sports car, but i gesss the other criteria must make up the difference

Depends how many muppets have been driving that type of car. This year the insurance on my mates Scooby went up

I was told even the insurance groups 1-20 are sub divided.

I was told my Audi A4 was group 16,same as the octavia but within the group 16 the octavia was ranked about 83 and the audi 80

Insurers are nuts :D

yeah they are nuts, definately gp14 for my 1.8T(190PS) Quattro s-line

RE: 0-60 times, VAG do their test with luggage and a passenger iirc

And mine was the lesser 163 ps  Wonder if it was because its full title was Audi A4 1.8T quattro SPORT. Two insurance groups up for a word that sounds fast

I'm checking my old papers tonight.Do insurers class across the board or can they slot into different groups?

Oh well.
