MP3 Connection to Stream?

Featured Replies

Afternoon everyone.

My Octy VRS has a Stream headunit and I'm already missing my MP3 connection from my old Mondeo! So, what is the cheapest way I can get an MP3 compatible headunit in the car? Can I connect something to the back of the Stream (was able to do this in my old Civic)? Or do I need a new headunit? Looked at the OEM options and they seem crazy expensive. Anything out there by Sony, Kenwood etc etc that will fit the Octy and provide me with MP3 functionality?

Cheers

Mk 1 or Mk2 Vrs???

My Mk2 Vrs has a Jumbo box and inside there's a Aux socket which you can plug a player in, you have to put the radio settings to AUX so it will play through the cars radio

I assume this is what your talking about or have I got the wrong end of the stick

Basically just want to plug my iPod into the car stereo (if its relatively cheap). Can this be done with the Stream headunit or do I need to buy a new head unit with an aux in?

I think the Stream MP3 has an aux line in but the Stream doesn't.

Mine is the Stream MP3 and it has a 3.5mm line in jack in the jumbo box, under the centre arm rest. Otherwise I think you can link into the ISO connector in the back. Read the ISO connections sticky.

Cheers Dan - I'll have a look.

Answered same Q here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/176847-stream-mp3-6-disc-changer/page__view__findpost__p__2131889

Connects2 adapter, costs around £30 and gives you simple aux-in, hi-jacks the CD-changer socket.

Fitted one in mine, sound quality is great and don't miss the changer one bit.

Edit: just noticed it's an iPod specifically you're wanting to plugin, I think there's an ipod-specific Connects2, or if you get the generic one you'll need to make sure you pick up a cable to take the sound from the main iPod connection, rather than straight out of the headphone socket.
