Is there any way of fitting the second one to the boot? I guess you would have to make a cut out in the plastic. How easy is it to piggy back onto the existing light, now replaced with the brighter one, which will now be very hard to remove!

Mike

If you got the two pack you will have the two short connecting cables. Just solder a set of wires to the large plug on these connectors. (observing polarity of course) Plug the small connectors into your (new) existing light and the second light.

I know why the price has dropped on those original lights...there is only one in the pack now.

Here are the before and after photos (manual exposure so both identical)

Wow! What a difference! And seems you surely just need the one!

Anyone interested in buying together to share postage?

Anyone interested in buying together to share postage?

As good as the LED Dome light appears... it's still expensive.

Buying a pair of Octavia boot lights seems to end up costing Eur40 or £34 (including EUR4.99 postage. So that's £17 a lamp. A bit pricey isn't it?

Buying two sets of Yeti boot lights costs slightly more.

I may still be interested bahnstormer. If you can get enough people interested, you may be able to persuade the supplier to do a "Clubs" deal - could be worth a try!

Worth a punt I reckon

PM me an address Guy - I've a spare one you can try?

I'm sure someone said in the past that the interior and boot lights aren't on the "bulb failure" loop, so it doesn't/shouldn't matter what LED's are fitted.

My boot light does seem to be affected by the 10 minute timeout feature. It does not go out completely but flickers dimly.

The "10 minute" timer isn't part of the bulb failure system though Terfyn.

I checked mine earlier (getting my lunch out of the boot) and notice that the bulb part now doesn't work, but the 2 LED lights work perfectly, AND no dash display.

May be a daft question, but as I can't be bothered to look at my boot light at present would these http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item3360a4135c be a suitable replacement for the OE bulb in the boot?

Hi Guy, if the Yeti has the same boot lights as the Octavia, you will need glas socket replacement bulbs, not festoons. ;)

The ones from Superskoda work just great. We replace the whole unit, not just the bulb. We only have one light in the boot, unlike Octavia's. emoticon-0149-no.gif

OK, will correct:

Hi Guy, if the Yeti has the same form boot light as the Octavia, you will need a glass socket bulb and not a festoon. :giggle:

(AFAIK Guy asked whether the posted link was alright for the boot light and the shown bulbs arent. )

OK Guys; thought I ought to resurrect this thread!

Went back to basics and looked up the details of the required bulb for the boot light in the Handbook and lo, it turns ought to be good old faithful W5W 'sidelight bulb'.

So did a search on ebay for W5W with Canbus comparability and came up with these;- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200605297949?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Bought a couple of pairs, £2.99 per bulb, and tried them out yesterday. Banzai - they work! So put a pair in the front sidelights as well and also did the boot light in my wife's Roomster. All work suitably well.

I've now gone potty today and, referring again to the handbook, seen that the 'tail lights' for both Yeti and Roomster, are a pair of W5W on each side, so I have now ordered a suitable number of these;- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200622636553?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 and for the Brake Lights traditional P21W are needed, so ordered these;- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320721612250?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Better not do any more or else Kevin will look like a Christmas Tree. :giggle:

Interesting. They say they are Canbus error free so I wish you luck... I hope it works as I might do this LED upgrade too!

Has anyone upgraded all the interior lights to LED yet? Care to share the codes of the bulbs please? B) Thanks.

Careful in using white LED's behind a coloured lens, the brightness of the LED can make the lens appear pink, it is recommended to use red LED's behind the red lens's and amber behind amber lens's (however be warned that LED's in the indicators are more difficult to see than the OE bulbs)

Take a look here to see what many of the Superb owners are using for the tailgate (myself included)

Johann in the Superb the interior bulbs are also W5W bulbs

Well; they work in the sidelights so far, so I'm keeping fingers crossed they will also work in the Tail and Brake lights.

As for the interior, the 'map reading lights' are W5W but I can't for the life of me work out how to get at them to change them and the 'interior' lights by the B pillar are a 'festoon' (sort of cigar shaped bulb) but again I can't work out how to remove the fitting to change them.

So I'm not going to bother.

Interesting point about LED bulbs appearing 'pink'; hopefully mine aren't too strong; but as the LEDs produce a blueish light wouldn't this actually make them appear Magenta behind a red lens?

Indicators were taken care of long ago with Philips 'silver/mirror' reflective so they look clear but flash amber.

I have replaced all my interior lights as has Merlinman.

They are easy when you know how, but as I know to my own expense ( around £15) if you break a metal clip you have to replace the whole unit. It was worth it though.

The attached photo shows you the clip which you have to push in, then it just slides out. Be careful not to break the clip - I did because it wasn't fitted by the factory properly........Skoda wouldn't let me claim under warranty though.

edit: the clip is facing towards the front of the car on the nearside, I think it is on the offside as well. A thin flat blade screw driver carefully inserted between the metal lining in the headlining and the switch and pushed gently should do the trick, BUT YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Thanks as always.

Looks straight forward enough; these jobs always are when you know how, but never when you are trying to work them out without any idea of what to do. ;)

I might just try this!

Just be careful & gentle. No forcing emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Just changed my boot light with one of these bulbs and I'm not sure it is much brighter although it is quite a nice crisp white.E-bay delivery and service excellent.
