Replacing seat base?

Featured Replies

The constant creaking is doing my nut in..

It happens when I change gear, move or do anything! Has this always been a problem?

How much would it cost to replace?

Probably about 200 id say, cant remember how much the bases are but I can find out.

Pop the plastic cover off the front of the seat and spray WD40 or similar directly at the springs you can see under there (you will need a torch!). Not too much or you will soak the carpet, be careful!

Slide the seat back and forth a few times then get it in position. Works for mine, lasts a few months, usually between services about 8 months when the mechanic moves the seat - as long as it stays in position it lasts for a good while.

HTH,

Arsey Mick ;p

Surely before replacing it you could take it out and properly check over all the mechanism/"stuffing" to find out precisely where the problem is?

Yup, looking into how i can remove the seat first. Wife has the car now and i wont be seeing it till nextweek now.

The front panel under the seat has clips at both vertical joints, carefully prize it on the side neaest the door and gently lever it open to gain access, it aint easy and be careful not to bend it too far - I have little baby hands and get in pretty easy - but then i can change the headlight bulbs easy - so they must be pretty small.

Seat comes out by removing the M10 spline bolts at each end of the runners.

BUT MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR 10 MINS AND UNPLUG THE AIRBAG CONNECTOR BEFORE YOU PULL THE SEAT OUT.
