Got my self some Conti TS830

Featured Replies

Did them today, 205/55/16, about 100 a pop with installation. Was suspicious of how Scout is gona look on 16" and will wheels look just a little too small for the body, but they are acceptable. Steel wheels are original J16 from Skoda when i ordered the car, and got the Skoda snow chains too which fit to 205/50/17 aswell for those who want to keep 17" rims.

personally i'd lose the plastic covers - the black steel wheel with winter tyres is a great "utility" look - means people notice you've got the winters on :)

Well, all people here have winters, or you will pay a hefty 270 euro fine, and if your winters are less then 3mm it's only 130 euro. If on summer tires, a suspension of license for 12 months is a nice x-mass gift. All this is valid from 15 Nov to 15 March :)

Looks just fine to me.

I'm not a subscriber to the ever increasing wheel size theory. Interested to know how wheels can be "too small for the car" ... anybody remember the size of the wheels on the classic Mini? :p

Smaller wheels in winter will give better handling as well as less chance of kerb scars. My Alfa is now wearing 16s instead of its normal 17s (many people have 18s or 19s), shod with Hankook Icepts, and it looks just fine (must be about a foot longer than a Yeti). I'm looking forward to some slippery weather later in the year.

There are a few people over on the Yeti section of the forum who have fitted 16" steel wheels and winter tyres. I ended up with the Conti WinterContact TS810's for my Yeti when it arrives. The Yeti looks fine with a 16" wheels.

I'm putting some VW T5 plastic covers over the wheel nut area and then hopefully glue some Skoda badges in the centre, if I can find a glue that will work.

Only 10" and it won the Monte Carlo rally in the ice and snow emoticon-0144-nod.gif
