Is it normal to hear a low volume whining noise from the vRS for several minutes after starting the car from cold? Hard to tell exactly where the noise comes from.

If it is just after starting from cold and at no other time, it is probably the alternator under extra load recharging the battery (especially if you have got the lights on, rear heated window, etc).

Probably normal, but keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.
