Door Carrier Removal.

Featured Replies

My front N/S window is stuck in the open position. Looks like it is a regulator problem and I can see the plastic guide clips are not broken. I've followed the Carrier removal guide but I can't raise the window glass as it's is sticking on something which I can't see so I'm not able to release the glass part from the door carrier. So does anyone know what could the window could be sticking on and is there a way to remove the carrier from the glass when it is down?. Luckily I have a bolted version, no rivets.

New regulator bought from ECP. It's not OE but costs £42. No answers on my first post so I'll have a go my way.

Have you taken the motor off?

Not yet.

Luckily I have a bolted version, no rivets.

Jammy get...

Take the motor off and remove the carrier. The wires slip off the regulator pulleys and get chewed up by the motor.

Some cars (well, mine anyway) have the regulator riveted to the other side of the carrier, so you may still need to get hold of some rivets to replace it.

The carrier and wire assembly comes as one kit and can be found on ebay for around 20 quid (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Skoda-FABIA-Window-Regulator-Repair-Kit-Front-Left-/250717263153?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a5fe9d531)

Had I known this when mine died I wouldn't have bought a whole new carrier assembly for ~£70 + VAT

ECP had them on the shelf, can't wait days for delivery. Mine came all fitted on the carrier as well, looks exactly the same as the OE one, same colour plastics etc. I just took out the old one, had to drill out the rivets holding the glass guides and cut the cable, now I'm struggling with the door lock wiring plug.
