Argghh!! Help Me...

Featured Replies

Getting my car Jabba'd tomorrow which I cant wait for :D, however driving home tonight, completely forgot that I was getting it Jabba'd, needed some diesel so went to Sainsburys and put in some City Diesel 30 Litres , got home realised my idiocy and thought "I know i'll put some Redex diesel treatment in to hopefully clear some of the sh@t and act almost like an Octane booster", so I read the instructions, 10ml of Redex for every 5 Litres of fuel, no problem I think - poor in about half the plastic bottle into the fuel tank. Come back inside and find out that each mark on the bottle represents 50ml, ARGHHH!! enough for 6 cars full!!!

To make things worse I think "I know i'll go back to a garage and put in every last drop of diesel I can" in the hope to dialute the Redex somewhat. On the way, quite annoyed I put my foot down, only for the most Rampant Rabbit (girls will know what I mean) to run out infront of me @ 70 MPH! BANG! CRASH! WALLOP! Safe to say the Rabbit popped it's clogs and I end up missing the front fog light surround and the Near Side Left bumper popped out.

Luckily both only look asthetically damaged and I should be able to fix them tomorrow no hassle.

What about the Redex, will it affect performance tomorrow when I get it remapped or should I just refill the car again with BP Ultimate on the way down and everything be ok? It's the first time i've used any additive if it makes any difference.

What a night.... :thumbdwn: :(

I need an answer tonight Briskoda! im leaving at 6am! :)

How far do you have to travel to get to Crowland?

I don't think it would be a problem, but I would clear as much fuel as possible in the morning, and then tank up a few miles from Jabba to dilute it a bit. I wouldn't worry about using city diesel to get remapped on. I tried with BP ultimate, but each tweak I've had has been on boggo diesel, so I don't honestly think it makes a whole world of difference ;) Certainly not enough to pour half a bottle of redex in the fuel tank. :P

Poor bunny wabbit.....

About 2 1/2 hours but want to give time for Rush hour, I live in North Yorkshire so time to waste some fuel.

Will it Honestly make much difference, 1-2 bhp or not even that? and would it be better because I normally run on City Diesel/Normal Diesel and not BP Ultimate.

I managed to get 10 Litres in the car from when I filled up and put 30 Litres in, I will use the overfill aswell on the way back from Jabba. When you say clear as much fuel as possible, is this because you get worse results with more fuel (sorry im a newbie) or because I have too much Redex in there? My Dad reckons it wont make any difference and it'll just lubricate the engine a bit much :) But shouldnt cause any short/long term damage and wont affect my remap.

Nah - I was thinking more about diluting the redex in the tank already. ;) Not sure what that will do for your BHP on the day though. With the 1.8T its always better to get remapped on the fuel you use normally. With diesels I'm not so sure the same applies to that degree, but its best to I say.

2 and a half hours drive should get rid of 2/3 tank I reckon, with a heavy boot, so by filling up again, your 1/3 of highly redex'd diesel will be diluted 3:1, thereby reducing any problem (if any exist) of using too much of the stuff. :D

Hope this helps. :)

Let us no how you get on tommorow my occy rs is booked in for febuary:D and i also want to no how easy it is to find:)

A lot easier since they moved - they're now on the main Crowland "bypass" - basically from the A....47? I think, the road goes straight north, and then there's signs for crowland to the left - ignore them, carry on straight, and on your right hand side, on a gentle right hand bend, there's a warehouse type building - thats them! :D

edit: Reverse all the above for a northerly approach, although I saw come off on the A1, and turn left, then repeat above ;)

hope it goes well,u'll have the biggest grin on your way home!!!!

Hellfire, would be really interested to know your experiences with this tune up. Is the car more peaky than before, whats it done for the economy, smoking etc. How has it effected your insurance premium ? Did they give your engine a health check prior to the tuning, was anything said about simmering and life of the unit post tuning ?
