brake wear indicator light

Featured Replies

hi , got a 2001 1.9 tdi octy , changed front pads today for 1 millionth time ,,,weirdly indicator light is staying on on the dash , all cabling looks sound , and brakes work fine , any ideas ???

Trying to mind when I changed mine, think I had to take it for a run for a bit and it went out itself.

Otherwise only thing I can think is you'll need diag's to reset it............... I could well be very wrong, was a couple of years back it happened on mine.

Something isnt plugged in right, take the plug off and bridge it out and see if the light goes out.

I've got a loose connection on mine and over some bumps the light comes on but always go out when i turn the igniton off and back on, takes a few days sometimes, You,ve proberly got a bad connection

hi all , problem solved , cable tie on the connetion , pad end , has made good the connection , light off , prob solved . dodgy connector i gues~~

Glad you found the problem. But I'll just add one more place the problem could be (for future people searching and finding this subject) on my A2 you can get the same problem and with age the problem is the wire itself from the pad to the car. Bridging the connectors at the end does nothing since there is a break in the wire in the first place! A bit pricey to fix, but once replaced no more brake light indicator.

octavia 1.6 2006 brake wear indicator flashes up all the time. Should wires in brake pad be connected or disconnected to turn on indicator?

How to turn off warning light, brake pads are fine.

If somebody is interested in same question, I got answer- wires should be connected inside new brake pad. Problem for mine was broken cable near brake pad. connected wires togeather and indicator light turned off.
