Storage bags for VRS tyres

Featured Replies

I'm getting my winter tyres fitted on Thursday & had ordered some tyre storage bags off Amazon (sure they said they'd fit up to 27" tyres) Maybe it was a typo, as the packing says that they only do to 17's & I've got 18's !

Anyone else got any suggestions where I'll get some, preferably on the 'high st' at such short notice. I've tried Halfords & Autosave, but nowt doing. I used to have Ikea bags which did the trick but gave them away when I sold the V5 Bora c/w winter tyres & don't stay near Ikea !

Yellow "hippo" bags from B&Q. The "small" ones hold two wheels nicely.

Pallet wrap.

Bin liners

Stack them in 2's place them next to each other in the middle of the lounge / conservatory (if you're really posh). Get hold of a glass coffee table top and place on top of the tyres - Makes an interesting talking point when visitors pop round ;)

Or

You could put a wheel at each corner of your childs bed, give them a Nintendo Wii steering wheel and let them pretend they have their own race car :)

Thanks for those...had me chuckling (especially the last one !)

I think I'll maybe try B&Q.

I saw them in the beginning of the year and nearly bought one, but thought that must be cheap tat for the price! how has yours stood up? (not literally!)

It's been great

Thanks

I will keep an eye out for them this/next year.

I bought one of these

You also get a cover in with it. Ideal for the garage or shed

Nice find, but I see the cover is now an accessory and not std, so makes it just under £30 posted

LOL - that IS the Lidl one, just for 6x the price

Defo!

Anyone seen one of those trees that takes anything wider than a 225 tyre?

Winters are 225 all round so they would be fine on it but the BMW summers have 255 on the rear. Do you think I woul be able to fit them onto it?

No you wouldn't fit 255s on there imo, 225s on 8Js sit quite close. I've not seen one for bigger wheels myself.

I stack my wheels/tyres in the garage on a couple of blocks of wood to keep them off the floor. Then with a sheet of thick cardboard between each wheel and on the top. Finally I put a 'garden chair cover' over the stack to keep dampness and the chill off them. If I'm feeling extravagant I put each wheel/tyre in a large h/d bin bag.

Oh yes; I make sure the tyres are inflated to slightly over normal pressures.

Cheers for that Nick.

Bahnstormer, that's what I do at the moment too (with the exception of over-inflating them) but a purpose built stand would be nice!

I just fitted my winters to my alloys...& currently just have the 'summers' stacked on the floor of the garage. I'd like a stand or some sort of cover to put over them. Just don't see anything that will do the job, apart from Gizmo68's option...just need Lidl to come up with them again !
