Bit of a knock in gearbox area

Featured Replies

When the clutch is let out in first I hear a slight knock, this only happens once as if it's taking up the slack in the drive train. When I change to second I get the knock noise again as I let the clutch out. If I let off the throttle and reapply I get the knock so it sounds like something is loose.

I originally thought it was the DMF but this has been replaced along with the clutch so I'm now thinking drive shafts, but there is no noticeable knocking on full lock.

Any ideas?

possible diff issue????

gearbox mount????

Yeah I'm thinking a worn cv joint unless it's a damaged wishbone bush.

Maybe a loose bolt or two on the gearbox/engine mountings (if your clutch replacement is recent?) or something hitting when the box moves as you take up drive,if all ok i think you could be right with the cv joint.

Yes clutch replacement is recent but I had it before that. You've got me thinking about something hitting as the drive is taken up. I had my down pipe custom fitted and the mounting pegs were a little long so maybe this is catching on the frame, I will check at the weekend.

Interestingly it didn't do it tonight.
