PHONE BLUETOOTH CONNECTION SOUND

Featured Replies

A question for the resident geniuses (genii??).

When my lovely iPhone 4 (with Bluetooth on) is detected by my lovely Yeti, the CD or radio playing is muted and there is a loud BOING. This has caused more than one passenger to jump, it is so loud.

Is there some way to reduce the volume of this tone? Everything else seems controlled by the menu system but I cannot find this setting.

Had exactly this problem last week. Got this reply from "Danbarnes".

The volume of the beep is linked to the volume of the voice control.

To turn the volume down, press the left hand side rotary steering wheel button, this activates voice control. Then rotate the button until the volume of the voice becomes bearable, press the button again to cancel voice control.

This will work but it is a fine balance getting the beep quiet enough while keeping calls at a volume where you can hear them.

You can see it on page 2 of this Yeti forum. That fixes it.

If you have a Columbus system you cannot use rotary wheel because there isn't one. I found the easiest way is to make a phone call. Now, when you adjust volume you will see the screen says "telephone volume" and you can adjust it to get a balance between being able to hear and not having too loud a connection sound. Through the tone set-up menu you can also adjust the minimum sound for phone, but this does not allow you to turn it down of too loud - use method above.

You just turn down the volume when making a call.

But the best thing to do is disable it completely using VCDS.

I get a notification on the Maxidot that the phone is connecting, but no annoying sound of unpredictable level. Not sure where in VCDS it was, as Gizmo did it for me. It doesn't seem to be enabled on the Octavia or the Superb, only the Yeti.

I have a rotary wheel on my MFSW and also there is a rotary dial on the left at the bottom on my Columbus. (there is also a rotary dial on the botom right) which is the same as the previous Columbus in my old Octavia.
