My handbrake cover/gaiter is loose and slides forwards and backwards along the handbrake handle. Does anyone know how to fix it back into place?

Will I need to remove the surrounding console? If so, how is this done?

I don't have the Jumbo Box.

I have looked at the console closely as my handbrake is so stiff I rarely use it. The surround to the gear lever clips off using a fine screwdriver and there are a couple of screws to undo but after that I'm lost. I suspect you have to prise off the side panels (carpeted) to the console but I'm reluctant to use too much force. Typical of most manufacturers, make it awkward so that the Dealer has to do the job.

Interesting you mention this as mine is the opposite.

The gaiter that slides has suddenly started sticking and just under the lever, it has started to fold up into a gap. When released it makes a clunk noise.

It doesn't seem to affect the handbrake operation on the brakes but does make the lever stiff to take off. It's going in on Monday to be looked at..
