1.9D Engine (Pick Up) a Few Q's

Featured Replies

I've had a quick search and can't see the answers I'm after (I know how annoying it can be when the same question is asked over and over again)

The 1.9D in the Felicia Pick up, is it a Skoda only engine or was it fitted to some other VW's? And....is it possible to fit the early VW TD(Not TDi) 1.9 engines (Ie..pre '96 with out the FBW and Hyd Clutch)

I'm after a Pick up and was just looking at options, the 1.4 16V seems a very good conversion but I have a large stoke pile of Bio Diesel and Veg oil that I run my TDi Ibiza on so would prefer to do a diesel conversion. I've got a 1.3 Felicia (Hatch) that was given to me a while back for scrap, I've had a quick look around the engine bay but guessing the petrols could be mounted differently.

Cheers

Phil

The engine is the VAG one.

Jim (felicia16v) is probably the man to answer your other questions, he's a walking (and accurate!) encyclopaedia of Skodas. I believe you can put a turbo on the Felicia diesel engine, not sure how much work is needed to do it though, but I think Jim did it.

(this information will cost you half your stockpile!) :giggle:

some of the td engines are a straight fit, or you can run an early mk3 td injection pump via the boost advance on your existing engine, the turbo and maniifold from a td will fit on the n/a engine too but you need to figure out a way of draining the oil back to the sump from the turbo..

the other gentleman who is very knowledgeable on this subject is a user called rolo on vwcaddy.com

Nice one cheers. I'll do a complete swap rather than bolt bits on, just gotta find an early Mk3 TD, I've got 2 late Vento TDi's and a Late Golf in my Unit which is a bummer :)

Thanks again

You will need to chop the inlet manifold to shut the bonnet .Tdi fits too, use a disco pump for mechanical op. or its not too difficult to make up an engine loom for fly by wire. The skoda clutch struggles with the torque above 75bhp and even a full race clutch won`t cope with the tuned version.
