Clicking problem from the dashboard

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. So my Superb is running like a dream but..................when the indicator clciked back into place, there was a clicking sound coming from the dashboard, around the centre of it and it sounds like the indicator but goes very fast and/or intermittenly. It does it when it feels like it but what seems to start it off is when I indicate.

All the indicators are working on and when it goes into clicking overdrive the lights themselves don't come on nor do the ones on the dashboard.

I have seen on here a couple of commentas about the heater doing this but I don't think so, as it sounds like the indicator clicking sound.

Anyone got any ideas???

The indicator switch on the column is full of copper shavings. Swill it out with electrical switch cleaner - or replace the switch.

rotodiesel.

I had this 6 months ago. I changed the blinking arm, then everything was solved.

I changed the blinking arm.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Funny, was talking to the mechanic about this exact problem the other day - the garage runs Octy minicabs as well as doing repairs, and most of them have succumbed to this over the years...

Mine jsut started to do this the other day. I was messing about with swirling a copper wire around the radio antenna to try and improve the radio reception for a long journey I was doing and it started happening after I got back into teh car. I thought it was somethign I had done, but it is still happening even with the eh copper wire removed. I think it was just a coincidence.

As for your suggestions, Rotodiesel - how easy is it to do as you suggest?

If I need to replace the arm, is that something I can do myself, or do I need a mechanic? I am capable of doing basic things around the car, but don't have teh computer thingy-ma-jig If i need it!

Ta

Workshop did it for me free. Only paid for the part, think it was round £20 quid. Took about 20 mins.

mine does this too. I thought it was a dodgy hazard warning switch.

I removed the switch and it stopped but then i had no indicators lol

tried switch cleaner and no joy. Looks like i will need a new one. Gonna be an expensive few days. bought 2 reversing sensors on Friday and it needs a 3rd and now a new indicator switch lol

let us know the part number of the hazard switch once you have itemoticon-0148-yes.gif

I dont think it is my hazard switch. I sprayed indicator stalk with loads of switch cleaner and this made it worse for an hour or so. Now its dried out its a lot better. When I get chance im gonna remove steering wheel and take switch of and give it another clean and try blowing with compressed air too.

On a plus not after 3 reversing sensors replaced that is finally working :)

I get a buzzing quick vibration noise, sounds and feels like it is coming from hazard switch. When indicator and/or hazards on, noise disappears, but reappears when indicator and/or hazards off again. Also, my Octavia estate is (2001) import from Wicklow. When I've looked at purchasing on internet, hazard switch unit often has a part number, but mine doesn't. Is unit universally same over a number of years or can dealer work part number out from chassis and/or engine number?
