Ordered VRS TFSI and at time didn't know about the maxidot option, after reading about it in the forum really regret not having it :'( . Car should arrive at dealership any day now, understand the dealer can do some updates, as I won't have the option thro maxidot is there any nice touches you can recommend I ask them to do before I pick up the car? Cheers!

Any member with VCDS can do anything you'd need activating.

Unless you go for a fixed price service/maintenance plan when VWFS will insist on Variable servicing and will decline the dealer's attempt to claim for a first fixed service.

I was exactly the same 3yr ago. Didn't realise I wanted maxidot until it was too late. TBH it would have been nice but I've not really missed it. Not worth the hassle of retrofitting IMHO.

Assuming it is a new car, I don't think you can retro fit any more.

Unless you have added loads of options to your car like auto lights, etc. I don't think that Maxidot adds a great deal (IMHO). The other configurable things like door locking you set once and leave, and can be configured via VCDS.

one of the options I did add was autolights, what does or can maxidot do with regards to the autolights? cheers.

You can set if you want the coming home/ leaving home lights to work and also the time that they remain on for.

will the come home / leaving home lights still work without maxidot, that was why I ordered the light assist pack for that feature, is the maxidot needed just to adjust the time they remain on for?

I have autolights, but no Maxidot.

The Coming Home/Leaving Home function will work if you leave it in the AUTO setting on the Light Switch. The feature is activated once the light sensor deems it is dark enough to activate the headlamps, rear lights and puddle lights. Word of warning; I have found the Autolight function can be hypersensitive, coming on when it is still relatively bright, but then isn't that what the OFF button is for?! Maxidot can adjust the amount of time they stay on for.

I wish I had Maxidot installed, but to be honest, the normal trip computer functions are more than adequate for everyday use and as much as I love my gadgets, I personally don't think it worth the hassle and expense of getting it retro fitted. Most of the functions that I am looking to get adjusted are a one of 'fit and forget'; central locking activation once on the move, one press of the remote to unlock ALL the doors, otherwise divorce papers will be issued!!

Some of the other functions you may wish to consider are; Hazards activated when braking heavily, the 2nd rear foglight activated, the use of front fogs (if fitted!) as cornering lights and probably a whole lot besides which people with Maxidot, or VCDS for that matter, are only too keen to inform you of! lol

Remember though, with or without Maxidot, the Octy is still the Mutts Cojonas!!

For some reason dealers don't let on to the wonders of maxidot. Did you opt for xenon lights? If yes then every time you take the car to euroland you'll have to get the lights reset by the dealer for lhdriving. Retrofitting on the FL model is not possible, so say SUK.
