Hi Guys,

Please go nicely as I'm a newbie emoticon-0143-smirk.gif .

I have just ran the latest VCDS 10.6.1 on my 2005 Octavia mkII 1.9TDI (1Z) and got this error,

Any ideas what it is, what the symptoms would be and how do I find this sensor to check the wiring.

*** I have edited my original post as I put the wrong code up. Thanks Tech1e for letting me know.

I cannot find anything on this code?

Thanks,

John

Does your car have auto transmission? If I'm right, I think its located in a control valve assembly attached to the auto gearbox.

You could always try clearing the fault and see if it comes back, that way you know whether it was a one off, or there is a genuine problem.

Hi Mike,

Car is a manual, not automatic.

The VCDS screen shows as..

I have tried clearing the code but it comes back so I defy think its a fault.

Have you got the right fault code in your first post then? You said you have 18223 but your VCDS shows 18263

This is going to sound like a weird question, but has your car been changed from variable to fixed servicing? The reason I ask is that on Ilexa forum (where I bought my VCDS from ) there is a guy on there who says that he's seen this code after recoding the instrument cluster from variable to fixed. If so I think its safe to ignore, accoding to him it disappears when recoding back to variable.

Hi,

Yeah, the Skoda dealer I bought it from changed it from variable to fixed after it had it's first service. I wanted to change it back but still learning my VCDS. I only got it today and also from llexa.

Been looking at other sites and and some are saying it could be a duff battery but your suggestion sounds more like it.

Cheers again.

Looking at the freeze frame data, this looks like a spurious error and can be ignored.

It can be logged on the first start after replacing the battery if the the keys were still in the ignition. It can also be logged when the battery is low and the car struggles to start.
