how to wire up a new tom tom xl live

Featured Replies

Hi all i have a new tom tom where and how do you wire it up so not plug in to lighter how to get power to it that if any one has done anything like this befor B)

There is a few threads in here somewhere (cant find em) where members have put power into the top box, and one that made up a mount in place of the top box cover that the sat nav sat down onto the power

I am not a very technical person, and am unable to do any wiring myself.

I have a couple of socket extension leads, so I plugged them together, plugged it into the socket in the boot (estate) and then ran it under the door trim.

The block to plug the satnav in is put inside the plastic block in the footwell.

The power from the boot is constant so this helps.

I know others will show ways of traing cables through vents and stuff, but I found this quick and tidy.

Good luck.

sounds like a good idea - any pcitures by any chance?

Any of the fuses down the left hand side of the fuse box on the right hand side of the dash are ignition fed and a good source of power. Earth locally, pretty easy to sort out.

That's great, plenty of information and a step-by-step guide. I'll probably adopt that method when my new motor arrives - thanks very much for all your effort.
