1.4TDi Running Issue

Featured Replies

Bear with me on this, but I hope you guys can help. My girlfriend has a 2008 Fabia 1.4TDi with around 20,000 miles on the clock.

Three times in the last six weeks she has complained to me about problems with the car. It seems that the car looses power; she compares it to the turbo not working. The car will still rev, but with much less power than normal. No warning lights appear and no smoke is emitted from the exhaust. The problem has thus far been cured by turning the engine off and then on again.

Has anyone else had similar problems? She doesn't live with me so I've not actually had a look at the car or witnessed the problems. Obviously she could take it to a dealer but there doesn't seem much point without a warning light of problem present?

For your troubles, some photos of the car in question:

Many thanks.

That's my baby. Perhaps I should grace her with a thread on here

definate, the proper skoda before the germans go involved:wonder:

It's perhaps worth taking it to the dealer as a fault can still show up in the 'KAM' (Keep Alive Memory) and it will have the codes telling the dealer what is what. Sounds like a turbo/air mass sensor going out to lunch, or air box air pressure sensor poor connection or bad sensor. Easy to fix. You don't always get a light on the dash to tell you something is wrong.

Brilliant. Thanks Estate Man. I didn't want to take it to a dealer and then there be no way of tracing the problem. Whoop. She's coming home next weekend so we'll have a run out to a dealer and see what they have to say. Will be it be covered under warranty?

seboni121. I'll make that thread as soon as I get a chance.

:)

If the car is still in warranty and they can identify the fault it is covered under warranty. Make sure you tell them the fault is intermittent and be guided by their advice. Good luck.
