Electric Window Problem on vRS

Featured Replies

Good Morning All,

On attempting to open my windows the other day, neither of them worked.

I've looked at the 25a fuses, they seem intact but I replaced them anyway, no change.

I've also tried holding the switches in the up position for a few seconds, still no change.

The only thing I can think of but haven't yet tried is disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it, from what I've read that can reset the window mechanism.

Does anyone know what this might be and how I might remedy it please?

I've done a search and it seems this has occurred before but I can't find any certain causes or solutions.

Its a bit odd really as they worked fine a couple of days prior.

Can you here the motor run when you operate the switch? It will only run for a second or so until the the cut out switch operates. You will here some clicks of the relay which means 12v. is getting to the window mechanism, if not you will have to trace the 12v. feed and find out why not.

Just disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes then reconnected it. No change.

There does not appear to be any audible relay clicks or motors running whatsoever, which is why I went for the fuses first.

Any insights or help will be greatly appreciated, its more annoying than you'd think having no electric windows :(

Probably window control module in drivers door. Have it scanned for fault codes, but you need a proper scan with something that can scan comfort control. Small scanners only do engine/abs/srs/at.

Righto, thanks. If it is the control module, can it be fixed or will it need to be replaced?

How much is it likely to cost?

Anyone in South Yorkshire who could scan the car for me please?

Many thanks.

I have the same problem on my n/s/f window plus my central locking on door not working
