2.0 TFSi (vRS pre facelift) MAF Sensor - 06F 906 461 A

Featured Replies

Has anyone been able to get money off their new MAF sensor by handing in their old one at the time of purchase?

I could have sworn I saw something about this but can't see any reference to it now and dealer has not heard of this scheme :wonder:

Most maf sensors are available as exchange. The part number would be 06F 906 461 AX

You then get the surcharge back..

Thanks

Just need to find a hand-tamed dealer now

Looking through Etka it looks as though this one is not an exchange item as no X- for exchange can be found at the part number end. I presume it's because it's just the sensor and not the whole body that's needed.

That kind of balances with what the VW dealer said to me

Perhaps I was thinking of the Mk IV Golfs which had the MAF as part of a tubular body

You wont get MAF sensors on Exchange unfortunately :(

I bought one a few weeks ago and asked about exchange. They don't do it and i tried 2 Skoda dealers a VW and an Audi dealer.

Thanks Carl - I guess that settles it :smirk:

PS Did you ever make any progress with swapping out MAF, MAP, N75 etc. to see what was holding you back on the dyno?

Yeah, I'm keen to avoid doing that myself

I appreciate that Carl

I've got a new MAF coming and I'm off to JKM in a couple of weeks to get K04'd - kind of expensive way to swap out the N75 but hey ho :giggle: . I am hoping that between the MAF, turbo/N75, injectors, the new K04 map and JKM's diagnostics on the new set-up, whatever the problem is goes away. After I've dropped al that money, it had ****ing better go away :wonder:

You won't go wrong with K04 mate.

Im not jealous, i'm not jealous, im not jealous :'( :'(

Baggsie Shotgun when i next see you

i am.

Don't be jealous...this could be a very expensive way of finding out that something else is borked!!

If it is i'll take the K04 off you mate

I've pretty much settled on staying Stage 2+

Im not going to go K04 unless i decide to get a new TSi Octy. Apparently they take very well to a K04

well if steveP posted a dyno printout of the stage 2 revo TSI complete with TBE, IC and intake, and it was running 298hp/360Ibft

no need for k04 with that output IMO

I'd agree with that...would be a lot of money to bring in the usual limitations of a FWD car. On saying that, I think it is generally recognised that a Stage 2+ on the TFSI (and perhaps Stage 2 on the TSI) is pushing a K03 engine to its limits and a K04 may even ease things off a bit. The flip side to that argument is that I haven't heard of a Stage 2+ going bang, only a K04 TFSI (but there again, that was Harry! :giggle: )

To be honest, the whole K04 was a tricky decision for me as it would be a decent deposit on a TSI VRS but I plan to hand on my car to SWMBO (who is loving the 'fruits of modding' on this car too!) in a year or so so wouldn't strip bits off it anyway. I'd probably get an ex-demo TSI and spend the money on suspension, brakes, exhaust, CAI and Stage 2.

To be fair if anyone was going to break it Harry would be top of my list ;)

Yup, in true Spinal Tap fashion, Harry's Revo settings "go up to 11" :giggle:

Funny you should say that.

I said to someone that Harry had a Spinal Tap SPS and got looked at like I had sprouted green ears and nose.

Alas, some folks have yet to see the pure genius that is a guitar with a 'speedometer' and an amplifier with a volume control that goes up to 11 :giggle:
