The wishbones connect to the car in 2 places, and to the wheel via the hub assembly. The Console bush is where the wishbone connects at the rear. Turn the steering to the right at full lock and look in the passenger side. Follow the front of the wishbone from the right of the hub assembly, where it meets the car you'll see a circular tube with a diameter of approximatly 3 inches and a lenght of about 2 inches. Thats your console bush housing, the bush is hiding inside! ;)

There is also a bush at the front of the wishbone which a lot of people replace with the powerflex alternative, but those bushes really don't take a lot of stick so probably wont need replacing. In all honesty, if you have the wishbone out to replace the consoles, you may as well change those too.

Thats a bit confusing.. So.. I should or should not spend another £20-40 on something which may or may not make any difference? :S

So how difficult a job is changing the console bushes? Manageable job at home?

thanks,

matt.

Tends to be a bitch of a job to be honest. Frequently the front bolt will shear when removing. Old rear bushes are sleeved, and can be a bugger to get out of the consule. Re-assembly needs a ratchet strap to get the wishbone back into the new bush.
