I thought my clutch was slipping but....

Featured Replies

Ok when I booted it from 2k at around 3k the revs would rise to 4k with no increased engine speed it would do this for around one second then the car would bite and pull.

Now with the new intercooler it pulls hard all the way through the revs, I was convinced it was the clutch as it had the same symptoms I didnt know a leaking intercooler would cause it to do something similar.

Could it have been turbo lag, I don't think that would cause the revs to rise v quickly though with no acceleration.

It could well be my clutch has sorted itself out but it was slipping this morning and new intercooler later it's fine.

Turbo lag would be a hesitation from booting it to anythign happening not a rise in revs but not speed.

I thought the clutch on my previsou remapped Ibiza was toasting itself but it sorte itself after a while.

I then thought my Fabia had the same issue but turned out i'd over filled with oil which caused a different problem with a very similar symptom

Interesting you say that about the oil as it started to happen rite after its service, main thing it's sorted now but was obviously just due to the intercooler just find it odd causing similar symptoms as clutch slip

hmmm bump

I have a slight worry with my clutch. Bought the car about six weeks ago and since changed belt, pump, remap to 182 bhp and noticed today a high reving sound like a clutch slip - yet according to receipts the clutch was actually replaced at about 24k miles which is only 40k miles ago.

mines is mapped to 180/300 but realistically it's around 170/290 it was on the dyno and made 162 bhp and torque was at 286 I think and that was with a broken intercooler so now it's fixed I'm expecting 170/290 which is quick enough.

I've read the standard clutch will be ok with the torque at 290, you wouldn't see the revs rise with no increase in speed if it was slipping.
