New Octavia vRS (06 plate), few questions..

Featured Replies

Just collected my new car yesterday, love it so far :D

I just had a couple of questions about it:

I didn't seem to get an owners manual with it..I bought this car from a Motorline Skoda dealer, should I call them and ask about it?

How do I set the clock? Stupid question I know, I've found the buttons on the stalk for changing between the screens on the dashboard display, but can't work out how to set/reset any of them

Thirdly, the rear wiper, does it have a water sensor? I move it (either push or pull, can't remember) quickly to wipe once, or hold it for the screen washer (presumably, though no wash came out :/ ), does it switch off on it's own once it decides the window is dry?

Thanks for the replies

Definately. My first Skoda came without it's service history; the dealer sorted this for me.

Depends if you have the maxidot display or not. The answer either way will be in the manual, once you get hold of one! I don't have one to hand otherwise I'd tell you.

Thirdly, the rear wiper, does it have a water sensor? Not that I'm aware.

You push it away from you to spray and wash. It will stay on intermitant after the wash sequence unless you pull it back to the neutral position iirc.

HTH

If you're not getting any spray from the rear washer double-check there's water in the reservoir (obviously) and if there is, then there's a chance the pipe has come off and you're spraying water into the boot.

It's seemingly a fairly common problem.

I managed to get a manual in pdf from the Skoda website, had a flick through that, the clock is set by just turning the trip reset button (lol) simple things eh? :p

Well the dealer will be giving me a courtesy call on Monday so I'll ask about it then

Thanks for the advise on the rear washer, I'll take a look in a moment, I should expect the window washer resevoir to be at least half full since the front works fine, but I have some screen wash so I'll chuck that in and try again

Thank guys and thanks for the welcome to the club :D Love the car so far :D

Good to hear it. Welcome to Briskoda

The same pump that feeds the windscreen feeds the rear screen so if the front is working OK it maybe that the pipe has popped off near the boot which as mentioned earlier in this thread is a common problem, especially at this time of year as the pipes can freeze.

Check the spare wheel well in the boot - is it full of screenwash?

was it the red one ?

ok another stupid question:

Where does the water come out onto the rear window? I couldn't see a jet or any pipe connection, does it come from the wiper pivot?

Yes

It might be worth buying a new rear jet as mine stopped working and it turned out to be the rear jet was blocked. Cost £4 and very easy to change out.
