Might be rejoining the Skoda fold with a Snow Monster

Featured Replies

Well given the terrible conditions Scotland has experienced at the end of Autumn/beginning of Winter this year, and how bad it was here last Xmas as well, I'm considering not taking any more chances with a RWD car or even a FWD car, as my Octavia VRS last year was equally rubbish.

Weather permitting if I can dig out the car from 2ft of snow then I'll be seeing about viewing a Yeti in Elegance spec from a nearby dealership. Then once I see about some winter boots I should be far better equipped to deal with what may turn out to be the worst winter in my living memory.

Now I know people will say the snow could be gone soon and may not return therefore no point in the 4x4 ability but as the Yeti seems a good all round car anyway and certainly is more practical space/seating wise than a saloon car then I think its a good choice, after all I'll still be prepared next time any bad weather strikes.

No what did I do with that shovel...........

Hope you like the Yeti, bet you will. Enjoy the test drive.

To be honest, right now, I'm wishing I'd stumped up the extra and gone for 4WD, but the car is excellent in all its specs.

Winter tyres are your friend! Or try those snowsock things, we've got them on the Octavia vRS and they work really well.

Quick update James, I now have Continental winter Contact 830s on 16" alloy rims and the Yeti is now simply amazing. I am struggling to believe just how good it now feels.

Happily my old Altea snowsocks ( unused) fit the alloy/ tyre combination , so that's a bonus.

Well if I ever get my Yeti should I just order some 16" steelies or alloys from the same dealer or get a set from somewhere else?

I got mine ordered with my car from the dealer so that my insurance company can't moan. And believe me some insurers have issues with winter wheels would you believe!

Well if I can ever escape to buy the thing I'll get the dealer to order some up. Thanks

Depends on cost, I've just bought some winter wheels from Mytyres for my wife's Fabia II, however for my previous Yeti I got the rims from the dealer, tyres from mytyres and fitted by the local tyre fitter as that was the cheaper option.

Once my freedom membership gets going :wonder: I might have some tyres (only) I wish to part company with.

TP

I called my insurers, after reading everything that has been said on this recently, and they confirmed they are happy, as long as whatever they are fitted to are suitable for the vehicle -in my case the original alloys. This is NFU insurance, BTW - I always had them insure my old Defenders - they seem competitive and always efficient and helpful.

NFU are usually great.

Still have my Defender with them.

Well went to view the Snow Monster this morning....And it will be mine next Saturday

It is a 2.0TDI 4x4 Elegance in Storm Blue metallic, extra are Spare Tyre, Silver Roof Rails and Park Assist.

Was really impressed with its ability in the snow around the dealership, hopefully it will do the job back where I stay as well.

Well done, lovely colour bet you can't wait for Saturday.

To many, but think this one is a keeper, had it not been the really bad weather and where I stay I would have def kept the bmw, it was a great car, just not in ice/snow.
