corroded alloys

Featured Replies

I have problems with my alloys and have been suggested that they are corroded. Is it possible to get them refurbished or is it possible to fit inner tubes or will that gunk stuff work?

not quite sure what your meaning, are they leaking air? or are they just 'looking messy'? if the latter then there are plenty of places to who will refurb them wether that be just painting them or shot blasting / powder coating etc

You can not fit inner tubes in tubeless tyres,Have you tried wheel cleaner.

Yea sorry i didn't explain very well. I mean they are leaking air and am wondering if there is a way to stop it or is it a case of getting new alloys?

You will need to eventually get them welded and refurbed, somewhere like Lepsoms will be able to do this for you, as a short term fix, something like tyreweld will be able to get you home but get them sorted asap.

Any good tyre place can remove the tyre and clean up the corrosion and refit the tyre. I wouldn't use tyreweld unless absolutely necessary. A good refurb by blasting and powder coating should see them like brand new, you can even choose another colour like black or white instead of silver. Either approach will help stop the leaking, but a refurb is probably more cost-effective in the long run and makes the wheels look new as a bonus.
