First post about to order elegance 4x4 estate with options

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just thought I would say hi, I'm very close to placing an order for an elegance tdi 170 4x4 Estate with several options from drivethedeal, I have used them before for a couple of cars and never had any issues.

I currently drive a BMW 123d m sport coupe which is a blast apart from in the snow, it's less then useless, it's got to go though as the wife has allowed me to get a new dog, I'm getting an Alaskan malamute so I need something with a large boot for when we take it places.

I had never considered a Skoda, always had BMW's, when I was looking around I first looked at an Octavia vRS then saw the Superb, have read so many good it looks like a real gem. I also considered a BMW x3, Audi q5, Audi a4 all road, avant but found the prices silly. I also do a lot of motorway miles so want a good cruiser.

I admit I've always been a badge snob but I'm looking to break away from all that.

Any advice on my choice would be greatly appreciated, I've been told there is a 20 week wait at the moment :0((( still 24.8k with nearly every option ticked is a bargain.

P.s. I'm 33, is that considered young in skoda years :0))))))

No 33 not young, I am 35 and get my third Skoda tomorrow if the snow keeps away.

I like Skoda’s and I seem to be converting everyone at work away from Fords and Vauxhalls, We currently have just over 250 Octavia Elegance’s and about 50 Superb’s. They all seen to last and last, Never seem to break down much, all doing about 40 to 60k a year. Some of the ex Audi A6 drivers now have Superb’s like the one I get tomorrow, and all have said the Superb is a nicer drive,

Go on order it now.

Hi and welcome,

You have made a great choice and the only advice I could give you is go for as many goodies as you can. I would advise you that the speaker upgrade could be better and the standard fit Columbus unit is great when it is behaving but is prone to throwing "wobblers". I have a heated screen on my Superb and this is the start of it's second winter so it has paid for itself many times over. Heated jets are worth putting on the list also. I also looked at BMW's when looking for my new car and for the same money I was looking at a very average spec 320d.. No contest !!!

P.s.,, You will be over the moon with the headlights and also your insurance premiums!!

The long wait begins....................!

33? Old enough to appreciate quality!

Believe me, just trawl through the Superb 2 posts, everybody loves their cars.

Go for it you will not regret it. This car is a badge-snob buster!

My car took 10 weeks from paying the deposit to collecting the keys.

This is mine if you fancy a look. http://picasaweb.google.com/philpix/JustSuperb#

Good luck,

........ I'm getting an Alaskan malamute .........

Get another five, string 'em together and drag the BMW along! Forget about another car!

They seem to be coming through in about 3 months from ordering, We have a large fleet about 300 Skoda’s as previous reply to this subject, we are ordering them all the time, some with extras some without, and all arrive earlier than first quoted.

Thanks for all the quick replies guys, I'm going to spec heated washers, windscreen, park assist as I'm curious, auto dimming mirror, heated front and rear seats, loud speakers and a couple of other bits I can't remember. Since I'm going to be mocked by all the sheep at work that won't order anything apart from a BMW or Audi I'm going to put up a good fight :0)))

I'm thinking of the steel grey metallic and ivory seats, black leather makes it all a bit dark, I currently have red in my car :0))))

As for the BMW I will miss throwing it around as it's like a little go kart, I won't miss £220 cost of a tyre and silly service cost. Hopefully I won't need my snow shovel so much either. That became a very regular occurrence last winter....admittedly its my own fault as I didn't,t put winter tyres on.

Does anyone know the cost of the tyres, I'm guessing around 150.00 for 18" non run flats.

P.s. I may even put my 1 series in the boot it appears that big

I'm still amazed how every review states how stunning this car is and compares it to the merc e class or Audi .

Once I hear back about delivery etc I think I wil be ordering

Cheap tyres from around £50, as they are such a common size... see here

... i was 26 when i ordered and collected my Superb 4x4 Estate 20 day before my 27th Birthday in late April this year (one of the 1st 4x4 TDi's in the country)

i went for MDI, Heated Washers, Heated screen, Spare Wheel, Tinted Glass, Matts & Park Assist (rarely used, but, as it was only £200 more than front sensors, i thought it was worth it)

Over 8,500 miles now, and no complaints, apart from a new windscreen fitted last week, as only half of it actually heated!

I am 28 and my Superb Combi TSI 160 is soon to be delivered. Its going to replace my Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Avant from 2009 (Wich has been in the workshop 8 times the last year...) .

In my opinion the Superb is better built and much better value for the money.

I had similar car choice as you, and 90% I am going for Superb. Currently my specs would be:

Superb 140PS, 4x4, DSG - Elegance (Mocca Brown/Beige Alcantara)

1. Knee Airbag - PE4

2. Alarm - PDA

3. No Badge - 0NM

4. Heated washers - 9T1

5. Off Road Package - PSW

6. Panorama roof - PH2

7. Park Assistance - PPA

8. Bluetooth 'GSM III'' - PT2

9. 4 warranty- YG0

10. Amundsen Navi

11. "Lounge step" - 0TR

12. Back Side/Curtain AirBags - PE3

I have opted out heated Windscreen, as I am worried it may affect additional GPS Navigation. Still have to decide about Off Road Package because I didn't see it and from pics/videos I am having mixed feelings.

Also i got quote from BMW for demo X3 (2 month old, 1200 km), It has almost exactly specs:

1) Perl Black, Beige leather,

2) Parking front rear, w/o assistance

3) 8 gears Steptronic

4) Panaorama roof

5) BMW navigation professional

6) 18" Alloys, runflats

7) Upgraded audio

8) Keyless entry

9) Bi-Xenons

10) Roof Rails

11) Auto Climatronic

Only difference was: lack of power seats, heated seats and parking assistance, 2 years of guarantee

If anyone asked me to make configuration to match Superb, it would be exactly this, and this was already there tested and driven. I really liked it, it matches everything in Superb, and interior looks better. To be honest, I liked more leather Alcantara in Superb and quality of interior, but overall design and layout of interior looks better in X3. Everyone knows that there is less space than in Superb, but I was pleasantly surprised how big is X3, It was almost like X5. Actually I wasn't even thinking about X3 because of lack of space, but since it just came here I was just curios to see it. And few other things I liked more in X3, higher seating position (I love that in current Picasso), at least some off-road ability, and in car entertainment/gadgetry is at least two classes above Superb.

List price difference was 19500 EUR, but since it was demo, they lowered for 7k and it is 12500 EUR. Tempted by that difference, than I added two years of warranty to match Skoda, winter set (2k EUR for X3) and insurance difference over 4 years, and I am again close to 19k difference. I am not convinced that X3 is that much better. I can get plain Superb limo for difference.

Third option is Mazda CX-7, which looks better to me than both, but interior is two class bellow and we don't have automatic option here. Price is in Superb range.

Went to look at the Superb Elegance estate today and I'm very impressed, not much of a looker but the interior is top notch, and the boot is huge... It's definitely a step above build quality wise then I was expecting, I'm very tempted to order once I hear back fro the dealer. The wife is saying I need to test drive but given the reviews how bad can it be?? I've driven the 170 Diesel already and I know it won't compare to my BMW 123d M sport coupe for handling or acceleration but that's not why I'm buying it :smirk:

I had two test drives. Simply because I wanted reason to dismiss Skoda as option. First time 170 medium level of equipment with manual, and I was surprised how god it felt. It really doesn't handle bad and I was expecting to behave like big heavy car, with softer suspension. But it was firm, I could feel that I can do whatever I want like it was much smaller car... Size doesn't affect handling. And it is no much different than Audi A6. BMW 5 Series is something different, maybe because I had longer test drive and saw handling on motorway, but it is class above for me. All car tested was with standard equipment.

Second time, I took wife and tried Elegance Superb with DSG and panorama. Maybe because of equipment and all that interior luxury feeling, I was under impression that is was leaning bit more to limo style, than sporty direct steering and handling. But this time I've tried it on motorway and I was impressed it is very stable and I had back that feeling of being driver instead of chauffeur. But since then Panorama Roof is on must have list. Without it, I would have feeling of being in tunnel :) Once you drive Picasso, you feel claustrophobic and it sets standard about glass estate.

unless you want to wait for months on end, or find a 2nd hand one with pano roof, then i wouldnt be ordering it - it's had many problems in it's life in Superb Estate and Yeti.
